Shop Mechanic

Key Responsibilities

* Perform DOT annual inspections and preventative maintenance on chemical tanker trailers

* Diagnose and repair air brake systems, ABS systems, and suspension components

* Inspect and repair tanker barrel integrity, baffles, weld seams, and structural components

* Service and repair valves, manways, gaskets, vapor recovery systems, and discharge systems

* Perform pressure/vacuum testing and leak detection

* Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems (if equipped)

* Conduct aluminum and stainless-steel welding/fabrication as needed

* Maintain proper documentation of inspections and repairs

* Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and hazmat regulations

* Maintain safe shop practices and follow OSHA guidelines

Required Qualifications

* 3+ years of heavy-duty trailer or tanker mechanic experience preferred

* Knowledge of DOT tanker requirements and hazmat regulations

* Experience working on chemical or food-grade tankers strongly preferred

* Welding experience (TIG/MIG preferred for stainless/aluminum)

* Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

* Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in shop/outdoor environments

* Valid drivers license (CDL preferred)
