Sunday 2:00 pm–6:00 pm;
Monday through Thursday 4:00 pm–12:00 am - Full time, non-exempt: 36 hours per week
- Annual salary: $40,000
The Bridge is searching for a bilingual Hotline Advocate who will provide crisis intervention, information, and referral services through its 24‑hour hotline for survivors of domestic/sexual violence and homelessness.
The Hotline Advocate will operate the 24‑hour hotline, Live Chat, and text line, providing assessments, crisis intervention, information, referrals, and immediate needs. The candidate will manage the HCDV shelter bed database, collect monthly service data, update the TBOTW account, and generate reports required by grants and agency mandates.
Additional duties include providing hotline and crisis‑intervention training for staff and volunteers, updating community resource manuals, and serving as an on‑call advocate (2–3 shifts/month, including overnight and weekend hours) to survivors in local hospitals. The advocate may also provide limited casework to shelter residents, conduct assessments for emergency shelter services, update resident census, and assist with transportation and daily shelter operations.
RequiredSkills & Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in social sciences; alternatively, a high school diploma/GED plus at least one year of experience in social services or customer service.
- Bilingual Spanish/English required.
- Must rotate on‑call responsibility a minimum of 2–3 24‑hour shifts per month.
- Knowledge of the dynamics of sexual and domestic violence, related laws, and an overview of the legal system.
- Ability to establish rapport and work with at‑risk populations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently.
- Pass a criminal background investigation check.
- Maintain a current Texas driver’s license.
- Maintain a clean driving record and annually update it.
- Maintain current auto liability insurance.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Able to lift or carry up to 40 lbs and ascend/descend stairs in an emergency shelter setting.
