Resident Advocate

The Bridge is in search of a Resident Advocate who will provide direct services to residents in a 100-bed emergency shelter setting for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and women and children experiencing homelessness.

Position Details
  • Full Time / Non-Exempt: 36 hours per week
  • Schedule:

    Friday, Saturday, Sunday; 7 AM – 7 PM
  • Annual Salary: $33,696
Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial intake of residents and provide orientation on shelter guidelines, available services, and room assignments.
  • Supervise residents to ensure compliance with shelter guidelines and maintain overall safety while delivering client services.
  • Prepare documentation of services provided in compliance with grant requirements, maintain statistical records, update daily house census, and log reports each shift.
  • Assist Food Services staff by conducting daily meal counts for all residents attending meals and oversee residents during meal time to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Answer the 24-hour hotline, live chat, and text to provide telephone assessments, safety planning, crisis intervention, information, and referrals.
  • Update and assist with the HCDV shelter bed database and the TBOTW account to maintain accurate bed availability.
  • Conduct routine walkthroughs of the facility to monitor and assist with cleanliness, ensuring resident safety and compliance with shelter guidelines.
  • Provide orientation to volunteers and new staff as designated.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED;
    Bachelor’s degree is highly desired.
  • Minimum two years of experience providing direct care in social services or residential settings with at-risk clientele.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish;
    Bilingual required.
Other Requirements
  • Must pass a criminal background investigation check.
  • Must provide and maintain a current Texas driver’s license.
  • Must provide and maintain a clean driving record and update it annually.
  • Must provide and maintain current auto liability insurance.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 40 lbs and ascend/descend stairs in an emergency shelter setting.
