Commissioning Manager

Overview

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C., is hiring a Commissioning Manager in the Jackson, Mississippi area. The Commissioning Manager coordinates job‑site installation and startup of equipment while working closely with Project Managers at CMCo and customer locations. Responsibilities include site inspections and reports, contractor interfaces, equipment start‑up, and guiding CMCo technicians on site.

• Minimum three years of construction management experience
• Previous experience managing the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment
• High school diploma or equivalent (required)

• Thorough understanding of installation of mechanical and electrical equipment
• Ability to manage multiple startup sites simultaneously
• Proficiency reading wiring diagrams and layout drawings
• Knowledge of submittals and specifications, and ability to respond to related questions
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Adaptability in a fast‑paced environment with competing tasks and demands
• Detail oriented
• Strong collaboration with project managers, contractors, engineers, and end users
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Excellent driving record
• Willingness to travel and work hours required to meet customer needs
• Experience in mediation and negotiation
