GENERAL FUNCTION:
The VFI Expeditor will be responsible for reviewing the material purchasing requirements described in the purchase technical specification (PTS) for the particular project and determine the vendor data requirements that support the material purchase. The VFI Expeditor will be responsible for the vendor data process and report directly to the Document Control Manager.
- Interface with Engineering, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Purchasing, Accounting, Production Control, and management as required.
- Capable of communicating with vendors on performance related issues as related to receipt, approval and correction of vendor furnished data requirements.
- Ability to read and understand purchase order requirements.
- Computer literate in order to compile tracking data and reports on a daily basis.
- Receive vendor data, work with engineering for approval, organize and file documents as directed, in accordance with department requirements.
- Solve problems concerning due dates and shipping dates of vendor furnished data.
- Quick familiarization with materials, yard functions, and company policies and procedures.
- Accept duties and responsibilities as may be directed by engineering leadership and/or the project engineer.
- Possess intermediate knowledge of using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to be self-motivated and work well under pressure.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
Minimum of three-(3) years’ experience in expediting vendor information or comparable experience in related field. Degree in Logistics, Design Engineering, Engineering or related field that enhances the ability to understand the technical aspects of the VFI expeditor and the effects of vendor data to ILS and engineering. Degree can be substituted with related experience in ILS, engineering and vendor data requirements.
Experience working with suppliers and their data types and working with integrated data environments (IDE), purchasing systems, Enterprise resource planning (ERP) a benefit preferred.
