Combat System Installation Engineer - Early Career

Position Overview

Early Career Combat System Installation Engineer (Full-time) within Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems. The role supports Engineering, Detail Design, and Field Engineering groups in equipment installation and design issues related to combat systems on naval vessels.

• Provide assistance/resolution to Engineering, Detail Design, and Field Engineering groups (Lockheed Martin, Government, and Government Contractors) related to equipment installation and design issues.
• Troubleshoot technical problems, determine solutions per product and customer specifications, and recommend actions to company or customer representatives.
• Conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements to meet specific customer specifications and implementations.
• Witness shipboard load‑outs of combat systems equipment.
• Inspect combat systems equipment and cabling during installation to identify problems and provide solutions.
• Provide engineering support for ship support systems (e.g., chilled water, sea water, electronic dry air, PAO, 400 Hz m, etc.).

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.).
• Knowledge of interface protocols, system design criteria, equipment interactions, major signal flows, and shipbuilding specifications.
• Ability to read and comprehend production drawings.
• Some travel may be required.
• Work conducted at naval bases, shipyards, and other facilities – ability to work in an industrial environment and shipboard where access is often by stairs, ladders, and in confined spaces.
• Occasional underway shipboard support may be required for up to one week at a time.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.

• Preferred experience as an installation engineer in ship repair facilities or equivalent industrial environments.
• Preferred operational experience in the Aegis fleet.
• Experience providing technical leadership and working in a multi‑organization team to accomplish a common goal.
• Preferred ability to read and comprehend military specifications for electrical and optical cable, connector, backshell, and system design, integration, and integrity testing.

This position requires a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
