Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Supports the development, integration, and documentation of electrical and C4I related systems onboard U.S. Navy ships. Creates and reviews System Concept Documents (SCDs), generates Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates, and develops Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs).
Collaborates with Navy technical personnel, internal design and engineering teams, and waterfront personnel to ensure successful design, integration, and installation of combat systems, C4I, communications, radar, weapons, internal communications, and related shipboard systems.
- Develop and review System Concept Documents (SCDs) to define system functionality, interfaces, and integration requirements.
- Generate Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates based on SCD content.
- Develop Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) in coordination with internal design and engineering teams.
- Integrate new systems with existing shipboard electrical, combat, C4I, and communication systems.
- Serve as engineering liaison with design, engineering, QA, and government technical personnel to validate technical data and ensure proper design execution.
- Support waterfront personnel by resolving questions or issues related to SIDs and system installation.
- Participate in ship checks to collect field data and ensure accurate design and installation planning.
- Coordinate drawing changes, resolve technical issues, and ensure alignment across engineering disciplines.
- 2 years with Bachelor of Science degree in a related field.
- 0 years of relevant professional experience with a Master’s Degree.
- Electrical engineering or combat systems experience with shipboard systems for CG 47, LPD 17, LCS, and LHA/LHD class ships.
- Experience developing and implementing ship change modifications for electrical or C4I shipboard systems.
- Experience or ability to serve for extended periods as an on-site engineering representative (OSTR).
- Willingness and ability to travel to support ship checks, waterfront efforts, and temporary OSTR assignments.
- Experience working with or supporting integration of combat systems, C4I, communication systems, radar systems, weapons systems, internal communications, or control systems.
- Degrees in Electrical Engineering are preferred; however, candidates with degrees in Systems, Computer, Mechanical, or related engineering disciplines may be considered based on relevant experience.
