Position: MECHANICAL FACILITIES ENGINEER 4

The Role

  • Plans, designs, and oversees reconfiguration, maintenance and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures and other facilities.
  • Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date and construction feasibility.
  • Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms to develop design criteria and prepare layout and detail drawings.
  • Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.
  • Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs.
  • Inspects or directs inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications and schedules.
  • Plans, designs and leads the reconfiguration, maintenance and enhancement of equipment and production systems.
  • Analyzes data related to equipment specifications, operational requirements, regulatory constraints and schedule feasibility.
  • Collaborates with internal engineering teams and external equipment vendors to develop technical criteria, equipment layouts and detailed mechanical specifications.
  • Prepares comprehensive equipment specifications to support equipment acquisition, integration and installation.
  • Reviews and estimates project costs associated with equipment selection.
  • Oversees equipment inspections and performance verification to ensure full compliance with technical requirements.
  • Communicates technical strategies, findings and recommendations clearly to leadership, stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
  • Develops innovative solutions to complex equipment-related challenges.
  • Leads project management efforts throughout the full project lifecycle including scope development, planning, risk assessment, execution and delivery.
  • Serves as the organization's primary technical representative for major equipment projects, collaborating with senior-level external partners, suppliers, and technical specialists to coordinate complex engineering efforts across the organization.
Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in science and 9 years of experience
  • or Master’s degree in science and 7 years of experience
  • or PhD in science and 4 years of experience
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1625
