Responsibilities
- Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
- Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as CAD, CAM or CATIA.
- Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposals.
- Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of experience –or– Associates degree or other 2‑year technical degree in a related discipline and 1 year experience.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Competent in software such as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Ship constructor, ARAS, and Navis Works.
- Familiar with ship specifications and a working knowledge of ship structural construction.
- LHA 8 Design Experience is preferred.
