Job Summary

This position will report to the O&M Manager. The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the following System Owner duties:

  • Coordinate maintenance activities for assigned areas/equipment to ensure generating availability, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Initiate, develop, and implement plant improvement projects.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) by providing technical direction and maintenance expertise to maintenance and contract personnel on all system issues.
  • Support and coordinate plant processes, including Maximo, Living Maintenance Strategy, Event Learning, and other related programs.
  • Develop and monitor budgets (baseline, outage, and special projects) for process and equipment needs.
  • Provide support to Team Leaders and the Engineering/Performance Department, as necessary.

Job Summary

  • Develop and monitor budgets (baseline, outage, and special projects) for process and equipment needs.
  • Provide support to Team Leaders and the Engineering/Performance Department, as necessary.

This position is associated with System P (Buildings and Grounds) and System S (Air System); however, system assignments will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications. Therefore, the selected candidate may be assigned to a different system.

Job Requirements
  • Must have a thorough understanding of general plant equipment, systems, and operations.
  • Must exhibit critical thinking skills, analyze situations, and implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Must possess effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge of budgets and the budgeting process.
  • Must have the ability to make decisions and demonstrate short- and long-term strategic planning skills.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computer-based applications (Microsoft Office applications and Enterprise Solutions tools).
  • Must have an understanding of the IBEW/Union contract.
Preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Operations and/or Maintenance in an electric generating plant, or 5 years of journeyman-level experience in other industrial work environments.
Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure all safe work practices are strictly adhered to while performing work efficiently.
  • Monitor the routine operation of assigned plant equipment.
  • The ability to use EDS and OIS historians to troubleshoot process issues is preferred.
  • Investigate equipment improvements on an ongoing basis by developing work scopes and solutions and implementing action plans.
  • Develop and track routine, outage, and special project budgets for assigned equipment, systems, and/or processes. Utilize Enterprise Solutions tools for budget tracking.
  • Execute major maintenance or replacement activities by providing specific direction and coordination of assigned maintenance crews and/or contractor personnel; monitor quality, cost, and adherence to contract specifications, including, but not limited to, OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Serve as the System SME by providing classroom and on-the-job training to maintenance personnel.
  • Effectively utilize Enterprise Solutions tools to maintain system efficiency and reliability.
  • Optimize system maintenance strategies.
  • Identify and address equipment issues.
  • Utilize the Event Learning process.
  • Establish ongoing relationships with key vendors; gather and analyze acceptance data on new or rebuilt equipment; and stay informed of current technology.
  • Support the Best Practices program by developing and implementing Best Practices in a timely manner.
  • Support the Regional Maintenance philosophy.
