Job SummaryThe Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) oversees a vast property inventory. The incumbent manages the acquisition, accountability, assignment, maintenance, and disposal of assets. Work includes coding property for distribution, designating disposal of damaged or excess items, establishing and maintaining property records, conducting annual inventories, reporting discrepancies, and auditing property for accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Acquire, code, and assign assets for distribution.
- Maintain accurate property records and accountability.
- Conduct annual inventories and report discrepancies.
- Audit property to verify identity, location, description, and audit reports.
- Knowledge of asset‑management principles, inventory control, and compliance standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and asset‑management systems.
- Strong organizational skills and accuracy in preparing management‑system reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field; alternatively, high school diploma or equivalent with 4‑6 years of experience.
- Experience in government or transportation asset management and familiarity with state procurement and disposal regulations.
