Pascagoula Hospital – Part‑Time – PRN 7pm–7:30am with weekends and holidays

Position Overview

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) evaluates specimens for acceptability, performs accurate testing according to established protocols, verifies accuracy before reporting, and reports results timely. The MLT maintains and calibrates instruments, troubleshoots equipment and reagents, complies with safety protocols, and performs phlebotomy as needed.

Education

Associate Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or related scientific discipline required by CLIA.

License

N/A

Certifications

Registered as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by ASCP or AMT within 1 year of job start.

Experience

Minimum of one (1) year preferred.

Reports to

Laboratory Operation Manager / Director of Laboratory Services.

Supervises

None.

Physical Demands

Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and performs many physical motions. Must stand for extended periods and walk without undue fatigue. May be exposed to communicable disease or radiation.

Mental Demands

Requires keen mental faculties, assessment, decision‑making, superior communication skills, emotional stability, and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Must maintain collaborative relationships.

Special Demands

Superior customer service skills, proficiency with computers (Keyboard, MS Outlook, Word, fax), and ability to use office technology.

Travel & Transportation

Requires travel throughout SRHS service area with employee providing own transportation and a valid driver license.

Additional Requirements

Must function independently, adapt to workload demands, set priorities, and understand goals. Requires organizational, planning, management writing skills, budgeting knowledge, and ability to process complex computerized and non‑computerized information.
