The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides skilled technical nursing care to patients in accordance with the medical plan established by a Nurse Practitioner or Physician. The LPN applies the MS Nurse Practice Act, CDC Infection Control Guidelines, and the Singing River Health System Nursing Care plans in delivering care and supporting the hospital’s mission to improve health and save lives.
Responsibilities- Deliver direct patient nursing care following established standards and care plans.
- Utilize the MS Nurse Practice Act, CDC infection control policies, and SRHS nursing guidelines.
- Perform nursing duties as directed and participate in performance evaluations based on these standards.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and infection‑controlled environment.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and report patient status to the supervising Nurse Manager or Physician.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing program for Licensed Practical Nursing.
- Current State of Mississippi license as an LPN required; expanded role licensure preferred.
- Required BCLS certification upon hire or transfer.
- Completion of de‑escalation training within 90 days of orientation.
Preferred:6 months of nursing experience.

Assigned personnel
- Moderately active work involving frequent walking, moving around the facility, and occasional travel to other SRHS sites.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull light loads; exposure to body fluids and potential infectious hazards.
- Perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions using a computer and other office equipment.
- Maintain visual acuity adequate for computer work and close‑up tasks; remain active for extended periods without undue fatigue.
- Adapt to schedule changes, including off days, shift variations, or weekend service as required.
- Make clinical judgment decisions and exercise appropriate clinical expertise for a diverse patient population.
- Demonstrate superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain emotional stability, handle high stress, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Pay close attention to detail and multitask in complex situations.
- Collaborate respectfully with SRHS staff and external organizations.
- Deliver high‑quality customer service and exhibit professional etiquette.
- Proficiently use computer systems (MS Outlook, Word, etc.) and office technology.
- Apply clinical judgment and professional skills to patients of all ages.
