Shift: 7PM-7AM.
Location:
Singing River Pascagoula Hospital.
The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients to attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. Competency is determined by demonstrated possession of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for this position. The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
Performance evaluation is based on these standards.
Provide patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and adhere to the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and related standards.
Qualifications & EducationEducation: Graduate from NLN School of Nursing.
License: Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi.
Certifications: All RNs are required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. RNs working in specialty areas must maintain certifications as listed:
- Cath Lab – ACLS
- Cardiac Rehab – ACLS
- Congestive Heart Failure – ACLS
- Cardiovascular Surgery – ACLS
- Emergency Department – ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Intensive Care Units – ACLS
- Labor & Delivery – ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation)
- Medical Nursing – OB/GYN – PALS
- Nursery – NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation)
- Pediatrics – PALS
- PACU/Recovery – ACLS, PALS
RNs have 12 months to acquire appropriate certification after beginning specialty work and 18 months to acquire TNCC certification for the Emergency Department. Must have de‑escalation training completed by the end of orientation (90 days) and have appropriate level of de‑escalation training.
ExperienceMinimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred. Experience must be within the past five (5) years or evidence of successful refresher program.
Reports To & SupervisesReports to:
Patient Care Manager. Supervises: LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Technicians.
Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move, travel within SRHS service area, lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects including human bodies. Exposure to body fluids, sputum, tissues, and potential infectious disease hazard. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard. Must be able to perceive sound, make fine discriminations, adjust vision, be active for extended periods without undue fatigue.
Must work schedules assigned with possible changes for off days, shifts, or weekends.
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment and decision making, superior communication and enunciation skills, strong written and verbal communication, emotional stability, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, attention to detail, multitask in complex situations, and maintain collaborative and respectful working relationships.
Special DemandsMust possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must be proficient with computer, MS Outlook, and Word.
