Position OverviewThe Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who is educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. Competency is determined by demonstrated possession of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for this position. The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, Cobra Guidelines, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
As such, this performance evaluation is based on these standards.

Graduate from the NLN School of Nursing. Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi.
Certifications- BCLS:
Required upon hire and/or transfer. - Cath Lab – ACLS
- Cardiac Rehab – ACLS
- Congestive Heart Failure – ACLS
- Cardiovascular Surgery – ACLS
- Emergency Department – ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Intensive Care Units – ACLS
- Labor & Delivery – ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation)
- Medical Nursing – OB/GYN – PALS
- Nursery – NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation)
- Pediatrics – PALS
- PACU/Recovery – ACLS, PALS
RNs have 12 months from the date they begin working in the specialty area to acquire the appropriate certification and 18 months to acquire TNCC certification for the Emergency Department. Must have de‑escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days) and have an appropriate level of de‑escalation training.
ExperienceA minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience is required, preferred. Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of successful refresher program.
Reporting ToPatient Care Manager.
SupervisesLPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Technicians.
Physical Demands- Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area.
- Exert negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Use many physical motions in performing daily work activities; subject to exposure of body fluids, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease.
- Use repetitive motions: substantial movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard.
- Be able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels and maintain hearing; make fine discriminations in sound.
- Maintain visual acuity and adjust focus between computer monitor and printed materials.
- Be active for extended periods without undue fatigue.
- Work scheduled shifts with possible changes for off‑days, shifts or weekends based on hospital needs.
- Demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment and decision making abilities.
- Demonstrate superior communication, speaking, and enunciation skills for in‑person and phone interactions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
