Job Description SummaryPosition Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled technical nursing care to patients according to predefined standards and a plan of care established by a Nurse Practitioner or Physician. Assumes other duties as assigned.
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides care utilizing the MS Nurse Practice Act, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and Singing River Health System Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services. Performance evaluation is based on these standards. All duties are performed in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organizations, and governing guidance and publications for healthcare employees.

- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing program for Licensed Practical Nursing
- Current State of Mississippi licensed as an LPN required
- Expanded role licensure preferred
- BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer
- De-escalation training completed by end of position orientation (90 days) and at appropriate level
6 months nursing experience preferred.

Assigned personnel
Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move around the facility, and travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Requires minimal physical force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves repetitive wrist and hand movements, using computer keyboard. Visual demands: must perceive sound at normal speaking levels, see at close vision, maintain focus.
Must be active for extended periods, tolerate changes in schedule, work nights, weekends. May be exposed to body fluids and infectious hazards.
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment and decision-making abilities, superior communication skills (speaking/telephone), strong written communication, emotional stability to handle high stress, work under pressure, meet deadlines, pay attention to detail, multitask in complex situations, maintain collaborative and respectable relationships with SRHS and other organizations.
Special DemandsMust have superior customer service skills and professional etiquette, proficient computer skills (keyboard, MS Outlook and Word, telephone, fax). Must demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply professional skills to patients of all ages.
