Singing River Pascagoula Hospital.
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled technical nursing care to patients according to predefined standards and a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse or Physician. Assumes other duties as assigned. The role utilizes the MS Nurse Practice Act, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and Singing River Hospital System Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services.
This performance evaluation is based on these standards. This individual must be forthcoming, honest, and cooperative in departmental matters involving self or others, and must promote the hospital’s mission of “world class healthcare and wellness.” The SRHS Corporate Compliance Program places the burden of proof on the provider to show that there was no intent to commit fraud.
Graduate from an approved school of practical nursing.
LicenseCurrent unrestricted Mississippi State licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. LPN has Mississippi Board of Nursing licensure for practice in the expanded role.
CertificationsMust complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. Must have de‑escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days) and possess an appropriate level of de‑escalation training.
ExperienceAppropriate nursing practice/experience within the past three (3) years.
Reporting & SupervisionReports to:
Practice Manager, under the direction of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or LPN responsible for patient care management.
Supervises:
None.
Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Exerts negligible force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Requires many physical motions during daily activities; subject to exposure of body fluids which may carry a hazard of infectious disease.
Includes repetitive motions such as substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers while operating standard office equipment. Needs good visual acuity and the ability to adjust focus between a computer monitor and printed material.
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment and decision‑making abilities, superior communication skills, emotional stability for high stress levels, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, attention to detail, and ability to multi‑task in complex situations.
Special DemandsMust possess superior customer service skills, professional etiquette, and proficient knowledge of computer use (keyboard, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, telephone, fax, etc.). Must demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
