Singing River Pascagoula Hospital.
The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse educated in the art and science of nursing, whose goal is to assist patients in attaining, maintaining, and restoring health. The RN provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the Mississippi Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
This performance evaluation is based on these standards.
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi.
Certification RequirementsAll RNs are required to complete and maintain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification upon hire and/or transfer. RNs working in the following specialty areas must complete and maintain the listed certifications within 12 months of beginning work in the specialty area, and 18 months for TNCC certification in the Emergency Department, and must complete de‑escalation training by the end of the 90‑day orientation.
- Cath Lab – ACLS
- Cardiac Rehab – ACLS
- Congestive Heart Failure – ACLS
- Cardiovascular Surgery – ACLS
- Emergency Department – ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Intensive Care Units – ACLS
- Labor & Delivery – ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation)
- Medical Nursing – OB/GYN, PALS
- Nursery – NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation)
- Pediatrics – PALS
- PACU/Recovery – ACLS, PALS
Minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred. Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of a successful refresher program.
Reporting & Supervisory ResponsibilitiesReports to:
Patient Care Manager. Supervises: LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Technicians.
Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office and facility, and travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. The job involves exerting a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. It requires repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions while using standard office equipment such as a computer keyboard.
Sensory requirements include normal hearing (with or without correction) and visual acuity to switch focus between a computer monitor and closer printed material. The RN must be able to work extended periods without undue fatigue, adapt to schedule changes, and perform these demands under variable hospital conditions.
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment and decision‑making abilities, superior communication and writing skills, emotional stability for high‑stress situations, ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle complex multi‑tasking while maintaining collaborative relationships across SRHS and other organizations.
Special DemandsMust possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must be proficient with computer and office technology, including MS Outlook and Word. Must demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
