Shift: 7AM-7PM.

Location:

Singing River Pascagoula Hospital.

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. Competency is determined by demonstrated knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for this position. The nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and related standards, Infection Control guidelines, and SRHS care provisions.

Performance evaluation is based on these standards.

• Provide patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within applicable regulatory and professional standards.
• Adhere to the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice.
• Support the provision of care, treatment, and services according to SRHS plans and guidelines.

• Education: Graduate from NLN School of Nursing.
• License: Current unrestricted Mississippi State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Certifications: All RNs are required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. RNs in specialty areas must maintain listed certifications (see below):
  Cath Lab – ACLS;
  Cardiac Rehab – ACLS;
  Congestive Heart Failure – ACLS;
  Cardiovascular Surgery - ACLS;
  Emergency Department – ACLS, PALS, TNCC;
  Intensive Care Units – ACLS;
  Labor & Delivery – ACLS, NRP;
  Medical Nursing – OB/GYN - PALS;
  Nursery – NRP;
  Pediatrics – PALS; PACU/Recovery – ACLS, PALS. RNs have 12 months from start date in a specialty to acquire the appropriate certification and 18 months to obtain TNCC for ED.
• Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred. Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of successful refresher program.

• Reports to: Patient Care Manager
• Supervises: LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Technicians

Work is moderately active and may involve sitting, moving around the facility, and travel within the SRHS service area. Exertion may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects, including the human body. Repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions are required when operating standard office equipment. Visual and auditory demands include normal listening levels and close visual focus for data comparison on forms and screens.

Ability to be active for extended periods and to work flexible schedules, including off days, shifts, or weekends, as needed by the hospital.

Must have strong assessment and decision-making abilities, excellent communication skills (spoken and written), emotional stability, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and multi-tasking in complex situations are required. Ability to maintain collaborative and respectful working relationships across SRHS and with other organizations.

Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Proficiency with computer use, MS Outlook and Word, and other office technologies (telephone, fax). Ability to apply appropriate clinical judgment to patient populations of all ages.
