Overview
Position:
Accuracy Control Technician. General function:
Performs in-process and final surveys of manufactured products to ensure compliance with quality standards, owner specifications, American Bureau of Shipbuilding (ABS) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) requirements.
The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
- Survey parts, products and processes to ensure conformance with standards, specifications or regulations.
- Conduct final surveys to verify specified dimensions, strengths and other quality factors using measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
- Complete in-process and final survey records and reports.
- Set up surveys by ABS and U.S. Coast Guard based on rules and regulations.
- Ensure that all survey procedures established by the company are followed during every production phase.
- Create comprehensive documentation for accuracy issues and note corrective actions taken.
- Educate the production team on accuracy control issues and work with departmental managers to improve overall safety and product quality.
- Create process checklists and coordinate accuracy inspections with departmental managers.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Familiar with regulatory bodies such as ABS and USCG.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven history of understanding industry safety standards and quality expectations.
- Strong understanding of raw materials and the manufacturing industry.
- Good math and technical skills.
- Strong understanding of accuracy control standards and testing techniques.
High School diploma with 5–10 years of broad shipyard experience in various craft areas required. Certification in quality control is preferred.
