Position: QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) with Security Clearance
Duties
* You will monitor the Contractor's Production, Quality and Manufacturing performance in the shipbuilding disciplines including: vessel hull structure, marine equipment structure, weight handling equipment, outfitting, coating systems, etc.
* You will monitor assignments will include:
Procedures Evaluation, Product Verification and verification of contractor's records.
* You will perform inspection, sampling inspection, and witnesses functional tests of ship's equipment and systems.
* You will provide inputs to the contractor's and SUPSHIP corrective action programs by initiating corrective Action Requests (CARS) and follow up to determine corrective action adequacy.
* You will work or assist in other offices of the Quality Assurance Department or Project Office as the workload dictates, thus utilizing his knowledge of other shipbuilding trades as well as journeyman's knowledge of general shipbuilding.
* You will investigates area where the contractor's inspection system is suspected of being inadequate for purpose of pinpointing the cause and making recommendations for remedial contractor or SUPSHIP action.
* You will verify contractor's conformance to applicable safety regulations, such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements
* You will function as a member of simulated INSURV Board during Builder's Trials and assists INSURV Board during Acceptance Trials. Functions as a member of the INSURV Board when assigned Requirements Conditions of employment
* Must be a US Citizen.
* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
* Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Qualifications GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Thorough knowledge and experienced with a variety shipbuilding activities such as nondestructive testing, coatings, mechanical, shipboard electrical cableway installation and inspection.
* Thorough Knowledge and ability in reviewing, interpreting and applying plans, blueprints, drawings, specifications, directives, policy statements, technical instructions and standards in all aspects of quality control, quality assurance and in industrial disciplines associated with ship construction, conversion and repair.
* Knowledge to communicate orally and in writing with engineers, technicians, ship's officers, Contractor's officials, all SUPSHIP Departments, and other Government officials on a wide variety of subjects including quality, technical and policy.
* Ability to generate and maintain reports, graphs, charts and records.
* Knowledge of applicable safety regulation and requirements.
* Adeptness in reviewing and auditing the Contractor's procedures in the shipbuilding disciplines with skill in recognizing the adequacy or the need for additions or changes.
