As an Ingalls Scaffold Carpenter, you are part of a highly skilled team responsible for erecting, modifying, and maintaining the temporary structures that allow shipbuilders to work safely above ground level. You will construct pre‑engineered scaffolding systems, install critical fall‑protection features, and ensure every elevated workspace meets the highest safety standards. Your craftsmanship supports every stage of ship construction and repair — the backbone of work that keeps our fleet mission‑ready.

What You Can Earn
  • Earn up to $35.99 per hour, depending on experience and skill level.
  • Additional opportunities for overtime, specialized training, and long‑term career growth.
What You’ll Do
  • Erect, modify, and dismantle temporary elevated platforms and staging to support ship construction and repair.
  • Utilize pre‑engineered scaffolding systems, including vertical posts, horizontal bars, and engineered connection points.
  • Install temporary wire‑rope guardrails and other fall‑protection measures.
  • Inspect shipboard work areas, ensuring all open holes and hazardous openings are properly covered and secured.
  • Work in various shipboard environments and support evolving production needs.
  • Must be available to work any shift in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

What You Bring
  • Experience constructing scaffolding or performing industrial carpentry work (preferred)
  • Knowledge of elevated‑work safety, fall‑protection systems, and OSHA requirements
  • Ability to read and follow scaffold specifications and installation guidelines
  • Comfort working at heights and in complex shipyard environments
  • Strong commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and teamwork
