Position: Student Employee - ASC Mentor (2026-2027)

Overview

On-Campus employment opportunities at Columbia Basin College (CBC) are available. Students who believe the experience can be a valuable part of their education are encouraged to apply, with some positions requiring student work study funding for eligibility. This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for peer mentor student employment positions for the  academic year (FALL, WINTER, SPRING).

This is not a tutoring position but a mentoring role focusing on support and guidance. Students interested in tutoring positions should apply within the Student Employee - Tutor posting.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as a positive source of support, helping mentees adjust to college and navigate challenges
  • Work with mentees to develop a personalized mentoring plan, set clear goals and track progress
  • Prepare for and conduct mentoring sessions based on mentee needs, study strategies and program guidelines
  • Provide encouragement, reassurance, and constructive feedback to build mentee confidence and develop problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Maintain knowledge of campus resources and connect mentees with appropriate services and professionals
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Support outreach efforts through planning and hosting informational sessions, campus tabling and social media engagement
  • Other appropriate duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled for fall quarter 2026 at Columbia Basin College
  • Completed at least two quarters at CBC, including good academic and student conduct standing
  • Available to participate in required training before fall quarter
  • Commit to being an ASC mentor through the fall, winter, and spring quarters
  • Be available morning, afternoons, and some evenings
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish and English
