COMPLETION OF SAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASED TRAINING IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State Teacher’s Certificate with Endorsement in Mathematics
  • Satisfactory evaluations

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Evidence of successful high school math teaching experience within the last five years.
  • Evidence of training or experience in curriculum development.
  • Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels in the area of math including previous experience or training in IB or willingness to be trained to teach IB.
  • Evidence of strong content area instructional capabilities at the high school level.
  • Evidence of providing for student individual learning styles.
  • Evidence of training and experience utilizing computer technology for word processing, grading, recording attendance, communicating by e‑mail, and implementing these computer programs into daily use in the classroom.
  • Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles-basic levels to extensions beyond basics.
  • Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.
  • Evidence of awareness of the current changes affecting math education.
  • Demonstrated participation and growth in professional activities related to math education.
  • Willingness to participate in training in integrating curriculum and to implement integration in the classroom.
  • Punctual and consistent attendance.

Job Description:

  • Teach positions including algebra, geometry, financial math, and pre‑calculus.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Work pro‑actively with all students through the establishment of clear expectations, the use of negotiation and compromise, and the maintenance of regular parent‑staff communication regarding progress and behavior.
  • Work positively and constructively in a changing school environment, which is focusing on improving student learning.
  • Incorporate technology into the instructional process.
  • Participate in development of curriculum and implementation into instruction.
  • Participate in workshops and training sessions that support department’s vision.
  • Use technology in the teaching and managing of students.
  • Work in a context with multicultural and at‑risk students.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, motivating reluctant students.
  • Create an atmosphere where cultural diversity is a strength.
  • Incorporate technology into the instructional process.
  • Be a “team” player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others.
  • Be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education.
  • Be committed to success for all children.
  • Cooperate in schedule changes and accommodating in other needs for use of facility.
  • Participate in workshops and training sessions that support building programs.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
