Position: Adjunct Faculty Instructor- World Languages 2025-2026

Columbia Basin College is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Adjunct Instructor to join our World Languages Department. The role involves teaching face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online communication studies courses as needed, with 11‑week (Fall, Winter, Spring) or 8‑week (Summer) assignments. There is no guarantee of continued employment beyond the quarter course assignment.

Rates
  • Instructional Rate: $72.72 per hour
  • Non‑Instructional Rate: $50.00 per hour
  • Meeting Rate: $30.00 per hour

If work is performed outside of instruction, it will be paid at the non‑instructional rate of $50.00 per hour or the meeting rate of $30.00 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Teach language courses at the beginning and intermediate levels in Japanese or French.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, relevant, and accessible course content for a diverse student population.
  • Foster a stimulating classroom environment that encourages student participation and success.
  • Maintain accurate student records and provide reasonable accommodations per ADA guidelines.
  • Respond to student communications promptly and ensure access to course information.
  • Collaborate with campus affinity groups and contribute to initiatives that support inclusivity and equity.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a relevant language area or bachelor’s degree with demonstrable professional expertise/experience in the relevant language area.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse student populations and faculty.
  • Proficiency in instructional technology and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
  • Commitment to culturally responsive teaching strategies and practices.
  • Residency in Washington State.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College teaching experience.
  • Availability to teach during afternoon and/or evening hours.
Quarter Schedule 2025‑2026

Fall 2025: September 15 – December 4

Winter 2026: January 5 – March 26

Spring 2026: April 6 – June 18

Summer 2026: June 29 – August 21
