Position: Adjunct Faculty Instructor- Visual Arts 2026-2027

Adjunct Instructor – Visual Arts Department

The Visual Arts Department is seeking applicants for an Adjunct Instructor. This position will include teaching in-person and/or hybrid instruction for Visual Arts courses as needed by the department. Adjunct faculty provide instruction for 11‑week courses (Fall, Winter, Spring) and/or 8‑week courses (Summer). There is no guarantee of continued employment beyond the quarter course assignment. Applicants with the appropriate qualifications may be considered for additional classes.

Instructional Rate: $72.72 per hour

Non-Instructional Rate: $50.00 per hour

Meeting Rate: $30.00 per hour

If work is performed outside of instruction, it will be paid at the non‑instructional rate of $50.00 per hour or the meeting rate of $30.00 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses which may include Art Appreciation, Art History, and Studio courses;
  • Develop and deliver course content that is engaging, relevant, and accessible to a diverse student population;
  • Foster a stimulating classroom environment that encourages student participation and success;
  • Maintain accurate student records and provide reasonable accommodations as per ADA guidelines;
  • Respond to student communications promptly and ensure access to course information; and
  • Collaborate with campus affinity groups and contribute to initiatives that support inclusivity and equity.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Art or a related field;
  • Strong communication, organizational, and visual literacy skills;
  • Able to work with diverse student populations and faculty;
  • Proficiency in instructional technology and learning management systems (i.e., Canvas, Panopto, Zoom);
  • Committed to culturally responsive teaching strategies and practices; and
  • Washington State residency, unless the employee is able to work fully in‑person on the CBC campus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College teaching experience; and
  • Available to teach during afternoon and/or evening hours.
