Position: Instructional Para educator - (ERR) - McClintock STEM Elementary (Up to 2 positions)

Instructional Para educator - Extended Resource Room (ERR)

Location:

McClintock STEM Elementary

Hours:

6.75/day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday; 5.50 on Wednesdays; 4.00 on Early Release Days; 180-day calendar

Salary: $21.38 - $23.72

AA Degree - $0.50/hour extra

BA Degree $0.75/hour extra

New hires are conditional upon passing a fingerprint screening

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Support instruction and behavior interventions using ABA techniques
  • Facilitate expressive and receptive communication
  • Use proactive de-escalation strategies
  • Deliver individualized or small group academic and functional instruction
  • Administers first aid to provide emergency care
  • Provide one-on-one instruction or group instruction
  • Assist classroom teacher and/or building administrator(s) with classroom management
  • Assist with preparing materials needed to conduct lessons
  • Provide support or supervision of students
  • Assist with light cleaning, issuing of equipment for necessary activities
  • Adhere to District safety policies and/or procedures as well as required program guidelines
  • Must be willing to assist with needs related to working with special needs students
  • Attend and complete annual required training hours for para educator certification
  • Provide support, supervision and/or assistance administering tests, quizzes, exams, or any assessment
  • Maintain accurate and efficient student records within student information management system(s)
  • Translate verbal and/or written information for the purpose of assisting students, district personnel, parents and/or guardians
  • Participate in District meetings to communicate information and gain feedback and/or direction on a variety of issues
  • Assists with supervision of students to ensure a safe and productive learning environment

- Essential Responsibilities:
  • Assist other personnel as may be required to support them with the completion of their work activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position
  • Assist with contacting parents and/or guardians regarding student behavior and academic progress
  • Willingness to review materials provided by district personnel and/or willingness to attend college classes for the purpose of improving instructional skills
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish), required
  • Must meet one or more of the following:
    • Associates degree (AAS, AA) or higher
    • Earned 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in college level 100 or higher courses
    • Passing score on the Educational Testing Service (ETS) para educator assessment
  • Prior para educator experience, college, or on-the job experience preferred but not required
  • Experience working with students who are special needs preferred but not required
  • Valid First aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willing to obtain
  • Prior experience in a K-12 school setting preferred but not required
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) trained or willing to attend training
Required Licenses, Certifications and Testing:
  • Passing score on district administered bilingual test
