Location:

Pasco, WA – Lourdes Medical Center (35-bed hospital).

Responsibilities

A Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) who excels in this role:

Administrative professional responsible for managing the flow of information and clerical tasks within a busy department, ensuring efficient operations and effective communication among the medical team, patients, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Maintaining and organizing medical records and electronic health records (EHRs).
  • Managing unit supplies and equipment.
  • Serving as a central point of communication by answering phones, relaying messages, and scheduling diagnostic tests.
  • Providing clerical and administrative support to nurses and other medical professionals.
  • Ensuring unit operations run smoothly by managing data and maintaining a clean, orderly work environment.
  • Scheduling diagnostic tests, procedures, and appointments for patients.
  • Assisting with preparing insurance forms and other administrative documents.
  • Answering and screening incoming telephone calls and taking messages.
  • Relaying physician orders, test results, and patient status updates to appropriate staff.
  • Acting as a go‑between for the medical staff, patients, and their families, answering administrative questions.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certificate or obtained within 90 days after hire date.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, critical‑thinking, and customer service skills, along with familiarity with medical terminology.

Schedule: Days (5x8s) M-F (No Weekends)
