Description

In this role, you will partner with the site‑level operations team to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. Leveraging lean principles and Kaizen events, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks in Amazon’s processes, ensuring a safe and healthful working environment for our associates.
Responsibilities- Act as SME of local/regional regulations and company WHS policy.
- Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all Amazon Safety Policies.
- Measure site performance against published safety policy requirements and develop plans to address deficiencies.
- Maintain safety record‑keeping and data integrity; provide Operations with accurate reporting and metrics.
- Deliver on‑time and high‑quality projects to Operations.
- Deep‑dive safety metrics, review incident trends weekly and monthly to identify high‑risk areas.
- Audit record‑keeping practices and Global Safety Database entries for compliance.
- Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors for alignment with training and auditing standards.
- Manage and mentor Safety Managers and Safety Associates on site.
- Engage Injury Prevention Specialists and Site Leadership to drive long‑term strategic actions for incident reduction.
- Perform targeted Kaizen events with Operations teams based on identified risks.
- Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable of their safety responsibilities.
- Audit the quality, delivery, and effectiveness of all required safety training.
- Review deployed safety tools for effectiveness and propose continual improvements.
- Partner with corporate and regional field safety personnel to integrate global best practices into NA network standards.
- Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
- Stand or walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.
- Work in an environment where noise levels vary.
- Work in an environment subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments).
- Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs).
- Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.
- CPR or First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it within 3 weeks of start.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 7+ years of increasing responsibility in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations, or relevant experience applicable to the role.
- 7+ years of increasing responsibility in people and performance management.
- Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
- Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified Safety Professional preferred.
- Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic organization.
- Interest in long‑term career development through assignments across multiple business units.
- Prior experience in a management development training program.
- Track record of managing a safety operation comprising salaried and hourly staff.
- Experience developing others into higher levels of responsibility.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Directors and VPs.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
