About the OpportunityAn established and growing telecommunications provider is seeking a Regional Manager, Field Operations to oversee all field operations, outside plant (OSP) activities, construction projects, maintenance programs, and service delivery efforts throughout the Columbia Basin region.
This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective execution of field operations while driving operational performance, team development, infrastructure growth, customer satisfaction, and financial accountability.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on operations leader with experience managing fiber optic networks, construction teams, field technicians, contractors, budgets, fleet operations, and large‑scale infrastructure projects.
What You’ll Do Leadership & Team Development- Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team of field operations professionals, supervisors, crew leads, and technicians.
- Establish clear expectations, accountability measures, and performance standards.
- Foster a culture centered on safety, operational excellence, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop talent to support ongoing operational growth.
- Conduct performance management activities, employee coaching, and succession planning.
- Provide overall leadership for Field Operations and Outside Plant (OSP) activities, including construction, maintenance, service delivery, and network growth initiatives.
- Oversee aerial, underground, and fiber optic infrastructure projects.
- Manage fleet operations, equipment utilization, maintenance schedules, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure operational readiness for service orders, provisioning, maintenance activities, and infrastructure expansion projects.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for network outages, service interruptions, and operational emergencies.
- Manage on‑call rotations and ensure appropriate operational coverage.
- Maintain a strong understanding of fiber optic construction methods, including aerial, underground, and splicing operations.
- Review and evaluate engineering designs, build plans, and maintenance strategies.
- Partner closely with engineering teams to assess constructability, costs, resource requirements, and field execution strategies.
- Ensure field activities align with engineering specifications, quality standards, and operational objectives.
- Oversee infrastructure growth projects, service delivery initiatives, and ongoing network improvements.
- Monitor project schedules, milestones, budgets, and completion timelines.
- Coordinate resources across construction, maintenance, and service delivery functions.
- Maintain oversight of operational tracking systems, maintenance records, and project documentation.
- Own regional operational performance metrics, including:
- Production output
- Cycle time
- SLA compliance
- Manage labor productivity, crew utilization, and contractor performance.
- Develop and manage regional budgets, including labor, materials, fleet, and contractor expenditures.
- Monitor job costing and identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings.
- Forecast staffing, equipment, and resource requirements based on project demand and growth initiatives.
- Manage inventory, materials, and equipment to ensure operational readiness while controlling costs.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout all field operations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA requirements, National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and other applicable regulations.
- Conduct field audits, safety reviews, and corrective action planning as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Telecommunications, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and leadership experience.
