The primary duties of a Business Class Director (BCD) include responsibilities for company-wide development, coordination, monitoring, and improvement of technical competencies of business class staff, products, and services to meet client needs, response to market drivers, and risk management across HDR. Business Class Directors support the needs of all Market Sectors, Business Groups, and geographic regions, as appropriate to their areas of practice, expertise, and focus.

Specifically, the Wastewater and Effluent Management (WWEM) Business Class Director is responsible for the direction, coordination, and quality of work for HDR’s Wastewater Treatment program. Responsibilities include building close working relationships with related business classes, market sectors, business groups and operations. The WTEM BCD will provide risk management for large-scale, multi-discipline and multi-benefit projects with a high degree of technical complexity.

The position will build and maintain the industry presence, reputation, and participation in professional organizations to raise the profile of the practice. As part of these duties, the WTEM Business Class Director will participate in client management, support proposal and project development and be an active member of professional organizations. Business development participation is primarily through technical differentiation, pursuit strategy input, and client-facing brand elevation.

The person will mentor and direct technical leaders that help manage and execute the mission of the business class. The position participates in and provides oversight of planning, modeling, piloting, and design services for wastewater treatment and effluent management programs and provides technical oversight for construction start-up and commissioning as needed.

As a WTEM Business Class Director, you will participate in the corporate management of the wastewater and effluent management program. This includes targeted technical training, coordination and staffing of critical projects, problem solving, claims management and staff mentoring.

• Provide company-wide leadership of technical capabilities within the business class.

• Lead and participate in technical risk management through process and resource reviews, providing technical advisory services on selected projects, and claims prevention and avoidance activities.
