Responsible for routine and non‑routine repair and maintenance of process equipment and systems. The role builds on mechanical aptitude to expand skill in repair and maintenance within compliance with company standards. Process equipment includes receiving, sorting, conveying, pumping, weighing, peeling, scrubbing, blanching, cutting, drying, battering, and frying.
Responsibilities- Maintain and promote safe work practices at all times, assuring compliance and actively participating in safety programs.
- Perform assigned duties and responsibilities safely and satisfactorily, following all posted instructions, procedures, rules, and policies.
- Conduct corrective and preventive maintenance, including lubrication and inspection of equipment, to sustain and improve reliability.
- Perform safe isolation, shutdown, inspection, adjustment, repair/overhaul, or startup of equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues; diagnose defects and implement corrective action.
- Document maintenance and preventive maintenance activities in SAP, belt‑tracking forms, FM, BDE card, and other required documentation.
- Evaluate equipment performance and make adjustments to meet recommended operating ranges.
- Perform non‑routine maintenance jobs assigned by Process Maintenance Lead, Maintenance Team Leader, Team Leader Production, or Plant Management.
- Share learning with team members and contractors to improve safety and equipment performance.
- Assist other work groups, specialists, and contractors with troubleshooting, adjustment, repair, replacement, modification, rebuilding, and installation of components and equipment.
- Utilize resources such as equipment manuals, instructions, troubleshooting guidelines, blueprints, and diagrams to assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot, repair, or replace components.
- Advance from 3rd Class Process Mechanic to 2nd Class Process Mechanic within 12 months, passing written examinations with a score of 75% or better.
- Maintain 5S standards and keep a neat, clean, orderly work area.
- Use SAP to locate equipment and data, advise leaders on inaccuracies, and submit notifications for deficiencies.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting, including motor inspection and replacement, verifying proper torque and component quality.
- Repair and assist in repairs in other areas of the plant as instructed by leadership.
- Participate in the Daily Management System and other programs.
- Identify appropriate materials and welding processes for stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum.
- Develop skills in welding, soldering, bolting, riveting, screwing, clipping, caulking, and bonding materials.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialist equipment such as multimeters, megger, infrared, and laser alignment tools.
- Operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, and routers to cut, bend, and form materials.
- Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on materials for pattern development.
- Align machines and equipment following established procedures.
- Operate powered lift trucks, scissor lifts, and other equipment to facilitate maintenance tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required; 6‑month certificate from college or technical school preferred; equivalent education and related experience preferred.
- Ability to read, comprehend, write, and present instructions, correspondence, and memos in English; effective communication in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
- Add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry.
