Hay Equipment and Production Operator

Job Summary

Join our hands‑on production team where you’ll operate forklifts and hay equipment, support daily hay pressing and cube production, and help maintain a clean, organized workspace.

In this role, you’ll learn to identify quality grades and uphold high production standards while keeping safety at the forefront of everything you do.

• Operate production and rolling stock equipment safely while maximizing production.
• Perform sweeping, cleaning, and quality control tasks.
• Assist with equipment operation controls such as starting/stopping, operating control levers, or touch screen interactions as instructed.
• Operate forklift to move/stack raw material and finished goods.
• Inspect production and rolling stock equipment prior to use.
• Provide shift leadership and guidance when required.
• Mentor lower‑level operators and oversee safe work environment.

• Level 1: Basic operations, general direction, perform quality inspections, limited equipment control, operate forklift.
• Level 2: Independent operations, lead shift in supervisor’s absence, full equipment operation, provide guidance to lower level operators.
• Level 3: Team leader, fully operate all production equipment, communicate with management, oversee safe work, mentor and lead team.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: None required. Preferred 1 year in an industrial environment with a dependable work record.
• Skills: Basic knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance, safety precautions, effective communication, ability to identify defects, perform minor repairs, safe maneuvering of equipment, teamwork.

• Lift, push, pull 70 lbs. consistently.
• Climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and balance.
• Quickly adjust to signals or changes in environment.
• Communicate verbally and via two‑way radio.
• Work outside in extreme weather, in high dust levels, confined spaces.
• Use PPE: hard hat, visibility clothing, gloves, footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection as needed.
• Work extended hours, weekends, holidays and alternate shifts when required.
