Job Description

The L3 Ingredient & Hand Add Production Technician performs all production procedures required to support the daily production plan. Responsibilities include managing the mixer deck, filling and maintaining SS hoppers, preparing and organizing hand adds, executing mixer and packaging changeovers/break coverage, and supporting production through effective planning and communication. This position may be required to work any shift or any day of the week depending on schedule demands.

Responsibilities
  • Ingredient Deck & Mixer Responsibilities:
    • Fill and maintain SS hoppers (SS1‑SS4) according to supervisor or lead direction.
    • Maintain organization and operation of the mixer deck, including hand add staging and changeovers.
    • Maximize efficiency by utilizing all four transfer hoppers simultaneously.
    • Inspect grates on transfer hoppers and the mixer deck at the beginning and end of each shift.
    • Manage mixer changeovers efficiently, transitioning ingredients and formulas as required.
    • Direct forklift drivers to ensure timely delivery of ingredients.
  • Hand Add Responsibilities:
    • Build and maintain minimum hand add inventory based on production schedule and lead/supervisor direction.
    • Plan and prepare hand‑adds ahead of production needs to maintain continuous operation and maximize efficiency.
    • Keep hand‑add areas organized and ready for use.
    • Support packaging changeovers and provide break coverage for production as required. Manage breaks and lunch to maximize productivity.
    • Direct forklift drivers to ensure timely delivery of ingredients.
  • Record Keeping:
    • Accurately ticket and scan all ingredients.
    • Turn in all scanned tickets at end of shift (every ticket must be accounted for).
    • Interact with the HMI computer as required. Use HMI systems to initiate and verify production transactions.
    • Maintain required logs, including mixer hand‑add sign‑offs.
  • Housekeeping, GMPs & Policy Compliance:
    • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and all food safety policies.
    • Adhere to allergen separation requirements and understand allergen vs. non‑allergen products.
    • Comply with all safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout and Confined Space procedures.
    • Report injuries, unsafe conditions, or equipment issues immediately.
    • Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored when not being used.
    • Perform sanitation duties as needed to maintain a clean, safe environment.
  • Additional Expectations:
    • Possess deep knowledge of the mixer and ingredient deck transfer process, with strong troubleshooting skills.
    • Apply FIFO methodology and follow daily transfer plans to ensure ingredients are used in received order.
    • Be forward‑thinking, able to plan, multitask, and manage breaks to maximize production.
    • Maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy in executing instructions written and/or verbal.
    • Complete tasks outside the ingredient/hand‑add deck when required.
    • Report defective tools or equipment immediately.
    • Prioritize multiple tasks to maximize work efficiency.
    • Accomplish other related work as required.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent; or up to 3 months related experience/training.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division in all units).
  • Ability to retrieve and enter information using HMI systems.
  • Experience in manufacturing or food production is preferred.
  • Ability to read formulas, safety rules, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports.
  • May be required to pass forklift training and cross‑train in other roles.
  • Must understand and follow all plant safety requirements, including LOTO and chemical safety.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and lift/move 50 lbs. (team‑lift 100+ lbs.).
  • Ability to work in dusty environments and near moving mechanical parts or forklifts.

Pay Rate

Estimated hourly compensation: $27.14
