Certified Medication Aide

We are seeking a dedicated Medication Aide to join our team!

Pay: $24.18 - $26.84 per hour.

Schedule:
Saturday - Sunday.

• Must have an active Medication Aide Endorsement with CNA license.

Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Medication Aide will safely administer medications as prescribed by the resident’s physician. The role includes documenting medication administration, effectiveness, and any noted adverse actions or side effects in accordance with Avalon’s policies, current standards of practice, and applicable state/federal regulations. The aide also promotes a compassionate physical and psychosocial environment for residents.

Minimum pay: $24.18. Maximum pay: $26.84. Part‑time employees are eligible for all benefits above except Medical. On‑call employees are not eligible for any benefits except 401(k).

Placement within the wage range for this position is determined by years of experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to perform essential functions.

• Administers and accurately records medication administration for residents in accordance with established policies and applicable regulations.
• Observes and reports to the Staff Nurse symptoms and conditions that could be related to medication interactions, adverse drug reactions, or medication side effects.
• Determines and records effectiveness of medications promptly and accurately.
• Provides and promotes residents’ rights during medication administration.
• Stores medications safely and accurately per policies and regulations.
• Monitors medications to ensure adequate accountability measures at all points of administration.
• Inspects, cleans, and monitors equipment and supplies to ensure safety, reporting issues to the Staff Nurse.
• Obtains, records, and reports vital signs as indicated during administration.
• Demonstrates awareness of proper infection control practices using Universal Precautions and follows Avalon’s policies as well as OSHA’s Blood‑borne Pathogen Standard.
• Communicates with residents, staff, and others accurately, seeking clarification or referring questions to the Staff Nurse when indicated.

• Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant and complete a state‑approved Medication Aide (MA‑C) Program, including classroom, facility training, and exam.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must complete 12 hours of in‑service education annually, as required by federal regulations (and meet state requirements if higher).
• Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions in English.
• Must relate positively and favorably to residents and families and work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors.
• Must be willing to assist others, including coworkers.
• Must meet all local health regulations and pass required post‑employment physical exams, drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
