Assists in the management of quality control activities for all phases of production, personnel and laboratory operations. Schedules and assigns workloads; and maintains close rapport with production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting quality.
Responsibilities- Supervise, technically assist, and schedule quality assurance technicians and associates.
- Direct product quality surveillance of manufacturing areas, including HACCP monitoring.
- Conduct periodic facility inspections and perform bacteriological environmental inspections in critical plant areas.
- Supervise special inspections for incoming materials, end‑of‑run products, etc.
- Coordinate with production on packaging line control for weight, metal detection, codes, and product/package integrity.
- Place product on hold, release or disposition as necessary per policy and procedure.
- Verify HACCP plan’s critical control points (CCPs) adhering to policy and procedure.
- Conduct GMP and sanitation audits of operations and warehouse areas.
- Work with operations personnel on quality and safety issues.
- Verify that operations control systems are functional and being followed.
- Evaluate damaged products.
- Coordinate resolution of customer complaints as necessary.
- Ensure statistical process control (SPC) management practices are followed.
- Complete analytical reviews of product.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- BS degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or other related field OR equivalent education and experience.
- 3-5 years related experience required, preferably in the food industry.
- Complete understanding of Food Safety Guidelines, GMPs, and HACCP plans.
- Knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations.
- Familiarity with fundamentals of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to read measurements and prioritize/manage tasks.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and occasionally sit. Must use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must taste and smell. Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposure to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.

$78,520 - $117,790 per year
