A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BAKERY SALES CLERKThis position allows you to exhibit excellent customer service skills while interacting with shoppers. You will display, wrap, and rotate breads, pastries, and cakes made by Bakers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Provide high-quality customer service in accordance with company standards and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bakery area, including cleaning display cases, work surfaces, and preparing/displaying bakery items.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local food safety and employee safety regulations and company policies.
- Inform customers about bakery products, provide samples, and promote sales within the department.
- Take bakery orders over the telephone or in person.
- Operate electronic cash register, receive final payment from customers (cash or credit/debit cards), and accurately give change.
- Replace stock in the bakery area as needed.
- Move trays of bakery goods from the preparation area to the display area.
- Monitor the bakery area to identify expired or nearly expired goods for markdown or disposal.
- Use sales reports to identify sales opportunities.
- Use price labeling machine and apply price stickers to packaged items.
- Adhere to the uniform and grooming policy.
- Ability to operate a bread slicer and other required equipment.
- Demonstrated customer service experience.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to read and follow instructions, product labels, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and within a large team.
- Self‑motivated and eager to increase knowledge of company products.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance (early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays).

Pay range: $17.38‑$20.71 per hour (no less than local minimum wage). Starting rates vary by location, experience, qualifications, and collective bargaining agreement. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, sick pay, PTO/vacation pay, paid holidays (7‑9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility). City of Seattle Labor Agreements start at $18.94 per hour.
