To provide guidance and empowerment to all store associates, and model how to actively engage guests, ensuring they receive unparalleled hospitality and professional service.
The following are the core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner that upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.
- Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safely perform assigned tasks and duties, and prepared to provide excellent service and leadership.
- Promoting sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, and discussing current promotions and service information. (Examples may include while in the check stand: asking guests if they need stamps or ice, chatting about Yoke's signature items, fresh board, and sweet deal suggestions, or providing information on reusable bag rebates).
- Performing all work with regard to the laws, policies, and confidentiality regulations of the company, and in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines. Advising the Store Manager or appropriate personnel of any discrepancies.
- Identifying and supporting the development of associates who show promise or interest in increased responsibility.
- Practicing Food Safety - Active Managerial Control for all food handling departments by being proactive at finding and preventing food safety risks, ensuring that all food handling Department Managers, Assistant Department Managers, and Leads are properly trained and are actively training associates on food safety practices. These practices include knowing personal health and illness symptoms to report to the management, monitoring food temperatures with thermometers, proper hand washing when required, using tongs or other barriers with ready-to-eat food, cooking meat to proper temperatures, washing produce before cutting, and preventing cross-contamination.
Active Managerial Control requires management to ensure Associates follow food safety requirements by checking their work and providing corrective action as needed. - Guiding front-end and perimeter department operations by supervising and working as a cashier in the front-end ensuring service levels in the absence of a Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, 3rd Manager, or 4th Manager.
- Closing Managers will be assigned job tasks such as checking, floor running, or dairy, for example, but their Job Title will be Closing Manager. They will be responsible for closing the store in the evening in the absence of the managers listed above.
- Answering guest complaints or inquiries.
- Empowering associates to use "This One's On Us" cards to "Make Our Guests Crazy About Us!"
- Securing the store and performing as Store Manager in the absence of him or her or the Assistant Store Manager.
- Ensuring compliance of associates with established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices.
- Assisting in grocery paperwork, merchandising, stocking, ordering, inventory preparation, and overall store cash management procedures.
- Participating actively in the store's accident reduction plan including monitoring store slip/trip hazards, cleaning or assigning cleanup of spills immediately, and recognizing: safety features of all machinery, personal protective equipment, store evacuation plan, robbery policy, health codes for bleach, case temperatures, gloves, ice scoop, sink regulations, and storing regulations.
