Description

On‑Campus employment opportunities at Columbia Basin College (CBC) are available. Students who believe the experience can be a valuable part of their education are encouraged to apply, with some positions requiring student work‑study funding for eligibility. This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for agriculture program student worker positions for the quarter.

• Assist Agriculture Program staff with transplants, sorting and planting seeds, irrigating field and greenhouse plants, harvesting various crops, and taking notes on field experiments.
• Calibrate, adjust and operate tillage implements, cultivators, fertilizer application equipment, planters and harvesting equipment.
• Perform greenhouse operations including watering, fertilization, and cross‑planting with bumble bees during winter months.
• Other appropriate duties as assigned.

• Currently enrolled at Columbia Basin College.
• For Non‑Work Study: enrolled in at least one (1) credit.
• For Work Study: enrolled in at least six (6) degree‑required credits, or five (5) degree‑required credits for Summer.
• Must be able to organize agriculture facilities, oversee weed management, and input data into computers using spreadsheets.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Good communication, computer, and customer service skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).

Prior to a new hire, a background check including a criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
