Position Overview
Reporting to our General Manager, the Environmental Technician performs tasks under the direct guidance of a supervisor including non-emergency and emergency response activities involving confined space entry such as manholes, tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, sweeping and shoveling, high pressure washing and various other remedial activities.
Key Responsibilities- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and adhere to all safety procedures.
- Perform labor-intensive activities in all weather conditions throughout the shift.
- Work in atmospheres with low clearances, confined spaces and at heights.
- Operate light and heavy equipment, including forklifts, aerial lifts, boom lifts, skid steers, excavators, pressure washers, pumps, and other company work vehicles.
- Attend mandatory training to earn certifications and obtain information specific to responsibilities.
- Ensure all proper paperwork is signed and submitted.
- Work “On-Call” based on the rotating schedule for emergency response; may require out-of-town travel.
- Comply with ongoing and random drug testing and physicals as required by the company.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Strong work ethic with a safety-first mindset.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Must be able to get to/from the job site.
- Demonstrates accountability and punctuality.
- Safety-oriented mindset with determination to follow all procedures and policies.
- Must pass Pre-Employment Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol testing, and Background Screening.
- Must successfully complete OSHA HAZWOPER 40‑hour and other mandatory training courses.
- Ability to work a rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability and willingness to travel for extended periods of time, overnight and on an on‑call basis.
- Able to read, write, and understand the English language, and able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
- At least 6 months of construction or general labor experience.
