• Routine and non‑routine repair and maintenance of boiler & refrigeration equipment and systems.
• Operate and maintain plant environmental control systems, plant water systems (including water conditioning), compressed air systems, boiler, steam and condensate systems, dryer systems, raw storage environmental control systems, HVAC systems, refrigerated rooms, freezing and cold storage systems, glycol chiller systems, boiler & refrigeration heat exchangers, natural gas systems, fire protection systems, and high‑pressure systems.
• Perform safe isolation, shut‑down, inspection, cleaning, adjustment, repair/overhaul or start‑up of equipment within scope of responsibility following SOPs.
• Conduct line checks and document results; perform corrective and preventive maintenance including lubrication and inspection to sustain reliability.
• Record data such as temperature, hours of operation, fuel consumption, temperature or pressure, water levels, flue‑gas analysis, tank levels, chemical and lubricant supplies; maintain daily logs and sheets.
• Adjust manual or automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended operating ranges; switch to backup equipment or shut‑down as needed.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and pneumatic issues; determine root cause and take corrective action to eliminate recurring failures.
• Operate and maintain steam, condensate and water conditioning systems; perform tests, add chemicals and adjust systems per testing procedures.
• Perform non‑routine jobs assigned by Maintenance Lead, Team Leader, or Plant Management; complete with appropriate oversight.
• Maintain 5S standards; keep work area neat, clean, orderly; follow instructions in work orders, manuals, etc.
• Use SAP to locate equipment, documents, parts, and assist stores personnel in locating items; submit notifications for deficiencies.
Job Functions- Perform and document removal, installation, disassembly, assembly, and repair of plant components.
- Troubleshoot, replace and re‑wire electrical components; ensure proper torque and safety.
- Assist in repairs in other plant areas as directed.
- Coach lower‑class employees on safe methods.
- Operate Powered Lift Trucks, Scissor Lifts, Man Lifts, Snorkel Lifts, and other equipment for maintenance tasks.
- High School diploma or GED (preferred). One‑year certificate or equivalent combination of two years education and related experience.
- Prior experience with boiler & refrigeration equipment and systems – definite advantage.
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting and welding – definite advantage.
- Ability to read, comprehend, write clear instructions in English; present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry.
- Problem‑solving skills and ability to interpret written and oral instructions, diagrams, or schedules.
- Must be able to work scheduled days, shifts, times, and overtime as required.
- Must pass a pulmonary/fit test annually due to SCBA use.
- Must be recognized as SME on at least one piece of equipment and have passed 2nd Class Boiler & Refrigeration Operator advancement test.
- Must obtain 1st Class Boiler & Refrigeration Operator status within 18 months of hire; must attain ≥75% on all written exams.
