We're partnering with an established telecommunications infrastructure provider seeking a motivated Fiber Lineworker I to help construct, maintain, and restore state-of-the-art fiber optic networks throughout the Columbia Basin. Minimum QualificationsTo be considered, candidates should possess:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of a Lineman College or Telecommunications Pre-Apprenticeship Program preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in telecommunications, utility line construction, or aerial fiber installation.
- Experience climbing utility poles and working from bucket trucks or aerial lift equipment.
- Experience constructing, maintaining, or repairing aerial fiber optic infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of Outside Plant (OSP) construction practices.
- Familiarity with OSHA, NESC, and safe work practices.
- Ability to read construction prints, make-ready drawings, and work orders.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- CDL or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe is highly preferred.
As a Fiber Lineworker, you'll install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair aerial fiber optic infrastructure while working alongside experienced construction crews throughout Eastern Washington.
You’ll play a key role in expanding and maintaining reliable broadband infrastructure while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards.
Primary ResponsibilitiesFiber Construction
- Install, maintain, and repair aerial fiber optic cable systems.
- Perform pole transfers, strand placement, over-lashing, and new aerial construction.
- Install anchors, down-guys, riser guards, terminals, and related hardware.
- Pull and place fiber optic, strand, and communications cable.
- Assist with underground transitions and make-ready construction.
- Troubleshoot damaged fiber infrastructure and assist with emergency restoration efforts.
Safely operate and maintain:
- Bucket trucks
- Hydraulic aerial lifts
- Cable trailers
- Compressors
- Pullers
- Standard telecommunications construction equipment
- Hand and power tools
Safety is our highest priority.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Following OSHA, NESC, NEC, DOT, and company safety requirements.
- Performing daily safety inspections and identifying workplace hazards.
- Setting up traffic control and safe work zones.
- Reporting unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses immediately.
- Maintaining clean, organized, and safe job sites.
- Complete work orders accurately and on time.
- Read and interpret construction prints and engineering drawings.
- Document completed work and production activities.
- Maintain equipment, materials, and inventory assigned to the crew.
- Participate in an on-call rotation supporting emergency service restoration.
- Respond quickly to network outages and storm-related damage.
- Work collaboratively to restore customer services safely and efficiently.
