Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Diesel Technician Trainee in Pasco, WA. The role provides weekly pay and excellent benefits. Candidates will be paid during training to become a Ryder Diesel Mechanic Technician. The position offers an hourly pay of $22.00, a certification bonus up to $700, quarterly bonus up to $500, and tool reimbursement up to $1,500.

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Zero to one year experience working with diesel engines preferred
- Age 18 or older
- Proficiency in English written and verbal skills
- Customer service skills
- Technical aptitude with ability to learn equipment and machinery
- Ability to troubleshoot problems independently or as a team member

- Track record of good attendance and performance
- Accountability and results orientation
- Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Beginner level knowledge of machines and tools, shop management systems preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- DOT safety regulated position; regulated tech
- Safety sensitive position; minimum age and hours per state law
- Obtain CDL within 6 months post‑hire
- Pass Ryder drug test
- Pass DOT physical
- Pass Ryder road test
- Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check covering last 3 years
- Move heavy‑duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or deliver to rental shop; wash and detail vehicles manually or using automated equipment; fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles while adhering to shop safety policies; record fuel activity and maintain proper fuel and DEF inventories and reconciliation
- Perform multi‑point inspection on inbound units, checking tire pressure, thread, fluid levels, lights, cleaning windows, changing tires, inspecting refrigeration units, and reporting issues to the shop
- Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and policies; perform facility maintenance and minor tasks assigned by supervisor
- Attend and complete all Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments, which include hands‑on and online training on Service Island Multi‑point Inspection, Vehicle Fueling and Washing, Environmental Safety & Spill Response, Safe Driving, Service Island Organization & Cleanliness (6S), Preventive Maintenance, Tire and Wheel, Service Bay Tool, HD Electrical, Air and Hydraulic Brakes
- Perform other duties as assigned
