Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast (BGCMCC) is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven, and detail-oriented Development Manager to help grow and sustain the institutional funding that powers our mission and expands opportunity for youth. This position is rooted in North San Luis Obispo County and will be based out of our Paso Robles facilities, with a strong emphasis on local presence, outreach, and relationship-building within the region.

This is more than a grant writing role. It is an opportunity to shape how our impact is told, funded, and strengthened across communities. The successful candidate will bring together compelling storytelling, data fluency, and an authentic community presence to advance life-changing programs for young people throughout San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.

About Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast

BGCMCC serves youth across San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. Our mission is to enable all young people—especially those who need us most—to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

Each year, we provide thousands of youth with access to safe, supportive environments guided by caring mentors, academic support, and leadership development. Our work is strengthened by deep partnerships with schools, funders, and community organizations committed to youth and community impact.

Key Responsibilities Include

Grants & Institutional Funding

  • Research and identify foundation, corporate, and public funding opportunities
  • Write and submit compelling grant proposals, LOIs, and reports
  • Track submissions, awards, compliance requirements, and reporting deadlines
  • Develop renewal strategies and steward institutional funders

Community Partnerships

  • Represent BGCMCC at local meetings, convenings, and partner gatherings
  • Build and strengthen relationships with local funders, government, business, and community leaders
  • Support localized funding strategies and leadership meetings.
  • Steward community partners, sponsors, and institutional supporters

Data & Impact Storytelling

  • Gather program data and measurable outcomes
  • Translate impact into clear, compelling narratives
  • Collaborate with program and finance teams to refine outcomes and metrics for reporting
  • Utilize donor and data systems (Donor Perfect, Salesforce, and related platforms)

Qualifications

Required

  • 3–5 years of experience in grant writing and/or institutional fundraising
  • Demonstrated success managing and reporting on a grants portfolio of at least $300,000 annually
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Experience with online grant systems and compliance reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, and donor databases (Donor Perfect, Salesforce, or similar CRM)
  • Ability and willingness to be regularly present in North San Luis Obispo County
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Occasional evening events, overnight travel, and special event participation may be required.

Preferred

  • Experience in youth development, education, or community-based nonprofits
  • Familiarity with public funding and compliance requirements
  • Experience using CRM systems to track institutional activity

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Pay Range: $33.50 - $38.50 per hour, DOE
