Position SummaryThis position provides leadership and oversight for children’s, youth, and family ministries, ensuring that all programs align with the vision of First Baptist Church. It may be combined with another ministry role, depending on the candidate’s gifts and the church's needs.
Primary ministry assignments will be determined during the interview process based on church needs and the candidate's gifting.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
The Family Pastor also provides pastoral care, fosters intergenerational connections, and develops strategies that encourage families to live out their faith together in the church and the community.
Key Responsibilities Family Ministry Leadership- Develop and implement a comprehensive family ministry strategy that supports the mission and vision of First Baptist Church. This will begin with Children and Youth and then expand to young families.
- Oversee all aspects of family ministry, including children’s ministry, youth ministry, and adult discipleship opportunities related to family life.
- Recruit, train, and equip volunteers and leaders to serve effectively in family ministries.
- Provide counseling and encouragement to families.
- Support families during significant life events with prayer, care, and presence.
- Plan and lead family-focused events such as retreats, camps, workshops, special services, and holiday celebrations.
- Coordinate outreach efforts that engage families in the local community.
- Promote relationships across generations within the church body.
- Encourage grandparents and extended family members to play an active role in discipleship and church life.
- Integrate family-oriented values into church-wide worship and ministry.
- Work closely with the Senior Pastor and ministry staff to ensure a unified and cohesive approach to discipleship.
- Provide clear communication with families through updates, newsletters, and personal connection.
- Represent the needs of families within church leadership discussions.
- Call to Ministry: This person should have a clear pastoral calling and a servant’s heart.
- Spiritual Life: A mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ marked by integrity, humility, and a servant’s heart.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or a related field.
- Experience: Experience of two years preferred but not required.
- Leadership: Recruit, train, and empower volunteers and leaders.
- Communication: Strong teaching, interpersonal, and relational skills to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Commitment: Alignment with the doctrine, mission, and vision of First Baptist Church.
- Reports directly to the Senior Pastor and Elder Board.
- Collaborates with other ministry leaders and staff.
- Shepherds and equips volunteers serving in children’s, youth, and family ministries.
The Family Pastor will be evaluated annually by the Senior Pastor and/or church leadership according to this job description, ministry effectiveness, and alignment with the mission of First Baptist Church.
