This is a seasonal position; the restaurant is open March-November.

The Bar Supervisor oversees the bar and front‑of‑house staff of Ciao Papi and food and beverage service at the pool. The Bar Supervisor ensures brand standards of service, food & beverage, and guest experience are consistently met. They train all FOH staff on cocktails and bar staff on cocktail mechanics and knowledge, including ongoing education. They work with the General Manager to meet FOH labor and beverage cost goals and to facilitate communication and teamwork between all River lodge departments to improve the guest experience and long‑term success of the business.

They work with the Events Manager to ensure all special events are successful for beverages. This position reports to the General Manager.

General Responsibilities
  • Utilizes existing training manuals, checklists and other written documents for a detailed and ongoing beverage training program with all FOH staff, updating and modifying training documents as necessary.
  • Leads the team in providing excellent customer service and beverages in accordance with the Ciao Papi bar program.
  • Oversees day‑to‑day bar operations.
  • Ensures ordering is consistent and on budget.
  • Ensures staff follows health and safety regulations.
  • Provides exceptional floor and pool service as bar supervisor or manager on duty when the restaurant supervisor/GM is unavailable.
  • Manages bar inventory, ordering, training and cost control.
  • Communicates issues or problems and possible solutions to Nomada where appropriate.
  • Oversees the cleanliness of the bar and bar storage area, ensuring products are stored and maintained, and the highest standards of cleanliness are upheld.
  • Closes CP at the end of service, ensuring all areas are cleaned and secured.
Expectations
  • The Bar Supervisor will execute monthly Bar / Wine / Beer / NA inventories.
  • They will work with Accounting to resolve any accounting issues and provide information needed for monthly financials on all transactions related to F&B in conjunction with the restaurant supervisor & GM.
  • Keep the POS and Opentable up to date, monitor regularly and audit as needed.
  • Execute prep and follow through with timelines.
  • Make sure tasting notes are up to date and distributed to staff in a timely manner.
  • Provide regular staff training on the beverage program, both day‑to‑day and scheduled training.
  • Submit relevant menu changes or collateral in a timely manner according to company standards.
  • Order bar supplies and coordinate with Chef for produce.
  • Communicate with Maintenance and the Restaurant Manager on maintenance needs.
  • Handle cash, petty cash, and tip outs.
  • Produce end‑of‑day reporting and analysis.
Qualifications

Must meet the age requirements to legally serve alcoholic beverages in the state of California.

Previous applicable experience in a restaurant environment.

Must possess a valid Responsible Beverage Service certification or be able to acquire one within 60 days of employment;
River Lodge will cover the expense.

Must possess a valid Food Handlers Card or be able to acquire one within 30 days of employment;
River Lodge will cover the expense.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, reach, stoop, bend, lift, and clean during various activities throughout the shift.

As needed, must be able to lift products or supplies up to 50 lbs.

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The hourly pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted rate that River Lodge reasonably expects to pay for this position.

Upon employment, submission of satisfactory proof of your identity and legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
