Ramp Agent

Overview

Ramp Agent is an outdoor, fast-paced role in a safety-focused aviation environment. Responsible for providing efficient ground support services to help flights operate on time.

• Guide inbound/outbound airplanes to and from the gate.
• Transport, load/unload, sort, and transfer passenger baggage, cargo, and mail.
• Safeguard customer baggage, air cargo, and mail from weather, loss, theft, damage, or destruction.
• Clean aircraft passenger cabins between flights and stock aircraft with needed supplies.
• Operate heavy equipment (pushback equipment, belt loaders, etc.) and maintain visual contact with Wing Walkers to ensure safety.
• Move luggage and cargo with equipment or manually, tow planes between gates, and refill water tanks and lavatories.
• Receive and record baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required.
• Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft (including wheelchairs, strollers, live animals) and prepare related records.
• Complete paperwork and data entry related to work assignments in the company information system.
• Follow company procedures to operate safely and complete required training.
• Maintain punctuality, preparedness, and safety; work flexible hours as needed (nights, weekends, holidays).

• Take reasonable care for health, wellbeing, safety, and security of oneself and others at work.
• Cooperate with management to comply with legal requirements and company procedures.
• Avoid misuse of anything provided by the company for health, safety, or security reasons.
• Report hazards, near misses, incidents, or dangerous occurrences to management.
• Work in accordance with training and safety policies; attend required trainings.

• Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 70 pounds (32 kg) regularly; repetitively lift 40–50 pounds on raised surfaces.
• Ability to carry heavy items up and down jetway stairs; walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently.
• Work outdoors in various weather; operate in noisy environments around jet and machinery.
• Use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities as needed.

• Good communication skills to relay information verbally or via radio with flight crews and ground staff.
• Basic math skills for weight and balance calculations as required.
• Computer literacy to track cargo and baggage.
• Problem-solving, time management, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• US: authorization to work in the United States (IRCA 1986);
  Canada: authorization to work in Canada (IRPA 2001).
• Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security.
• If required by customer or role, be able to secure a Customs Seal through the respective agency.
• Preferred:
  One or more years of relevant experience.
