Resident Engineer – PE, New Jersey. Flexible on exact location, can be Hoboken, Edison or Cherry Hill areas.
What you’ll own:
This is a senior, site-critical role for a Resident Engineer who thrives on ownership and delivering complex infrastructure projects in live environments.
You’ll act as the client’s on-site representative, leading construction delivery across major transportation programmes in New Jersey. From daily site operations through to stakeholder coordination and commercial oversight, you’ll be trusted to drive performance, resolve issues, and maintain momentum.
You’ll join a top-ranked US construction management firm, working within a high-performing, integrated team delivering highways, bridges, and rail infrastructure. The environment is fast-paced and accountability-driven - ideal for someone who enjoys being at the centre of delivery.
Core responsibilities- Lead all on-site construction activities and stakeholder coordination
- Monitor quality, compliance, and progress against NJDOT standards
- Chair site meetings, inspections, and contractor coordination
- Review RFIs, submittals, change orders, and payment applications
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation
- Identify risks early and drive mitigation and resolution
- Enforce health & safety in line with OSHA and project requirements
- Oversee contract administration, cost tracking, and scheduling
- Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and ensure regulatory compliance
- Projects delivered safely, compliantly, and on programme
- Strong contractor performance and proactive issue resolution
- Well-managed, audit-ready site operations
- Recognised as a trusted on-site authority by clients and stakeholders
- NJ PE License (essential) with strong NJDOT experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
- 10+ years’ experience in construction supervision / resident engineering
- Background in highway, bridge, or rail infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, scheduling, and compliance
- Experience with tools such as Primavera P6, Procore, or MS Project
- Ability to lead teams and operate independently in high-responsibility environments
