Assistant Director of Student Development and Campus Life
Berkeley College is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Student Development and Campus Life (SDCL) to support the implementation of programs and initiatives designed to enhance student experience across all Berkeley College campuses. The Assistant Director plays a key leadership role in developing co‑curricular programs, fostering student engagement, advising student organizations, and coordinating major departmental events.
This position serves as a bridge between the Director and Program Coordinators, ensuring consistency in program delivery, assessment, and student development outcomes across all Berkeley College locations. The Assistant Director, SDCL, reports to the Campus Operating Officer & Director of Student Development and Campus Life.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Program Leadership & Development- Support the Director in implementing SDCL’s vision, mission, and goals through innovative student‑centered programming.
- Develop and coordinate co‑curricular, leadership, and community engagement programs aligned with institutional learning outcomes.
- Assist in assessing student engagement data and program effectiveness using tools such as Qualtrics, PowerBI, and Canvas analytics.
- Benchmark programs and best practices at peer institutions to inform continuous improvement.
- Advise and support the Student Government Association (SGA) and student clubs/organizations, including training and budget oversight.
- Support the planning and execution of major student programs including Commencement, Graduate Salute, Academic Recognition, and Honor Society Inductions.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for student leaders, promoting inclusivity, wellness, and leadership development.
- Manage and coordinate student community service initiatives and campus engagement events.
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations of SDCL events on the New York City and Newark campuses, including scheduling, setup, and logistics.
- Collaborate with campus partners (Advisement, Career Services, Library, Athletics, and Accessibility Services) to design joint programming that enhances the student experience.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies for all promotional materials (flyers, social media, campus postings, etc.).
- Support the management of the Berkeley College Foundation Food Pantries on the NYC and Newark campuses, including coordination with community food banks.
- Supervise and train Program Coordinators, student leaders, and Federal Work‑Study employees within SDCL.
- Assist the Director with budget tracking, purchase requests, vendor coordination, and financial reconciliation for student programs.
- Prepare departmental reports, event assessments, and engagement dashboards.
- Provide professional and courteous responses to student, staff, and parent inquiries.
- Maintain office operations including supply orders, equipment servicing, and documentation management.
- Support the Director and Dean of Students with student conduct‑related matters and case management using Maxient.
- Serve as a Title IX Investigator or trained deputy, as assigned.
- Ensure all programs and services uphold Berkeley College’s ethical standards, FERPA guidelines, and inclusion commitments.
Salary Range: $57,000 - $62,000
Job LocationThe Assistant Director of Student Development and Campus Life is an on‑site position based primarily at the New York City and Newark campuses. The position requires regular travel to additional Berkeley College locations and occasional evening or weekend work for events.
Educational Requirements- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in higher education student affairs or student engagement.
- Experience supervising staff or student employees, coordinating campus‑wide events, and managing budgets preferred.
