Adjunct Professor – Writing

Seton Hall University seeks adjunct instructors to teach sections of the first‑year writing program. The courses emphasize rhetorical analysis and academic composition. English 1201 focuses on textual and visual analysis, whereas English 1202 centers on literature‑based academic writing. Candidates must have experience teaching composition in a college or university setting and hold at least an MA in a related field. CV and letter of interest are required to apply;
a statement of teaching philosophy, course evaluations from a composition class, and up to three letters of reference are recommended.
- Teach 1–2 classes per semester with sessions held 2–3 times per week.
- Conduct office hours and grade or review assignments.
- Attend orientation and meet regularly with the first‑year writing director.
- MA in a field related to writing or composition.
- Experience teaching composition at the college or university level.
- PhD in a related field.
Minimum pay is $1,200 per credit for instructors without a terminal degree and $1,300 per credit for those with a terminal degree.
